Step 8: Dress for the Times

To immerse yourself fully in the Titanic experience, dressing your avatar in period-appropriate clothing is essential. We have created an onboard clothing and tailor shop, located on D-Deck, to help you achieve the authentic look of 1912.

  1. Visit the tailor shop: Make your way to D-Deck and locate the tailor shop. Inside, you'll find a selection of free period clothing items that fit both men and women.

  2. Browse the clothing selection: The shop offers a variety of clothing styles from the era, including evening wear and casual attire. Explore the different options available to find the perfect outfit for your avatar.

  3. Acquiring clothing items: To choose an item of clothing or a hat, simply click on the chest or hat display. You will receive a prompt to accept the item. Click "Accept" to add the item to your inventory.

  4. Assemble and customize your avatar: In order to make the most of these free period clothes, you may need to adjust your avatar's appearance. Follow the steps outlined in the "Adjusting Your Avatar" section of this guidebook to ensure your clothing items fit your avatar correctly.

  5. Wearing your new outfit: Open your inventory and locate the clothing item you acquired from the tailor shop. Right-click on the item and select "Add" or "Wear" to put it on your avatar. You may need to adjust the position or size of the item to fit your avatar perfectly.

Simply Click 1 or more of the crates on either of the racks to select an item of clothing. Please note that there are no images displaying what you're getting inside the box, so you'll have to discover this for yourself.

By dressing your avatar in period-appropriate attire, you'll not only enhance your own experience aboard the Titanic but also contribute to the overall authenticity and immersive atmosphere for other passengers. Enjoy your voyage through time, and make the most of your experience in this unique metaverse.

My Avatar looks bad?

You can see little bits of flesh sticking out of the clothing item, this looks really bad, but can be fixed very well.

Ok So there may be a chance that parts of your Avatar are showing through the clothing you've collected via the Tailor Store. What you need to do is wear an "Alpha Layer" in order to remedy this. Next to the Gentleman's Clothing rack is a suitcase containing all of the Alpha Layer's you'll need to cover up the ugliness.

Just simply click this suitecase and buy contents for L$0 to receive your alpha layers and reccomended shapes to make the outfits fit correctly.

You may still require some manual adjustment, so make use of everything learned via Step 2: Navigating Second Life - A guide to Camera Control and Movement and also Step 5: Adjusting your Avatar which may require you to manually adjust your Avatar. Occasionally for instance people may appear to be floating throguh the floor.
