Opening Items in Second Life: Rezzing and Using Clothing or Objects

In Second Life, when you receive new clothing or objects, they may appear in your inventory in different forms, such as folders, boxes, or bags. To open and use these items, you'll need to rez them on the ground first. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do this:

  1. Locate the item in your inventory: Open your inventory by clicking the suitcase icon at the bottom of the screen. Find the item you want to open, which could be in a folder, box, or bag.

  2. Rez the item: To rez the item, drag it from your inventory onto the ground or another surface in the 3D world. You'll see the object appear in-world.

  3. Right-click the item: Once the object is rezzed, right-click it to open the context menu. You should see various options, including "Open," "Wear," "Edit," and more.

  4. Open the item: Click on "Open" to access the content inside the object. A new window will appear, displaying the items contained within.

  5. Copy the contents to your inventory: To move the items from the object to your inventory, click the "Copy To Inventory" button. This will create a new folder in your inventory with the same name as the rezzed object. The items will now be available for use.

  6. Using clothing and objects: To wear clothing, simply locate the item in your inventory, right-click it, and choose "Wear" or "Add." For objects, you can either drag them from your inventory to the desired location in the 3D world or right-click and choose "Attach to HUD" or "Attach to Avatar" to attach them directly to your avatar.

  7. Clean up: Once you have copied the contents to your inventory and used the items as desired, make sure to right-click the rezzed object and select "Take" or "Delete" to remove it from the in-world environment. This helps keep the virtual world clean and clutter-free.

This is how your screen will appear if you have succesfully "Rezzed" an item to the floor, and then Right Click to Open. Once you've done this simply copy to inventory, or copy to wear if this is a clothing item.
