Second Life: The Ideal Platform for Metacruising

Second Life, with its rich history and robust infrastructure, is the perfect platform for metacruising. As one of the earliest and most successful virtual worlds, Second Life has continuously evolved and adapted to the changing needs of its users, making it an ideal choice for our groundbreaking metacruising experience.

The Metacruising Experience: Environment, Scenarios, and Ship Mechanics

The Titanic is set within a purpose-built Second Life simulation, which we call "The Simulation." This immersive environment allows you to experience a 7-day voyage, just like the original Titanic journey from Southampton to New York.

Each day in real life, "The Simulation" is updated to provide new experiences and scenarios for you to enjoy on board. This could include changes in weather, sailing through icy regions of the Atlantic with icebergs, or even passing by other vessels at sea.

While the Titanic's starting port is Southampton, it does not currently have an arrival port, as creating a 1912 New York-themed Metaverse would require a separate NFT project to fund. Therefore, the Metacruise is all about the voyage itself; the voyage becomes the destination.

Voyages are not automatic and must be prepared for, just like in real life. When the Titanic is docked in Southampton, you can visit it, but during a voyage, the ship will no longer be accessible in Southampton. Once a voyage is complete, the Titanic returns to port, and a new voyage date will be announced in the Discord.

A Word of Caution: Be careful not to fall off the ship during a live voyage. If you do, you will find yourself stranded on an island a few miles from Southampton and unable to return to the Titanic.

When accessing doors that lead outside the ship, you will be prompted with an "Experiences" notification at the top right-hand corner of your screen. This enables seamless transition between interior and exterior scenes, so it is crucial that you accept this and press "Yes." Enjoy the journey and all that the Metacruising experience has to offer aboard the Titanic!
